Prior to embarking on a journey to practice bodywork as a Licensed Massage Therapist, I worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a privately-owned practice.  I have experience as a Certified Personal Trainer and teach group exercise classes regularly at the local YMCA as a Certified Essentrics® Instructor. The John F. Barnes MFR (JFB MFR) Approach rounds out a skillset focused on balance, function, mobility, injury prevention, postural corrections, and healing while being kind to your body.  I can help.

Do What moves you

While it’s difficult to comprehend, my PTA textbooks did not mention fascia.  I first learned about fascia while working as a PTA and studying to be a Certified Essentrics® Instructor.  An Essentrics® workout is grounded in the healing techniques of physical therapy and focused on connective tissue.  I had no idea how “locked” my own body was!  I taught classes at the clinic and used fascia-focused exercises in my therapy sessions.  Elongating connective tissues of the body improves mobility and heightens well-being.  JFB MFR and self-care through exercise are complementary.

I believe in the importance of movement.  The mind and body work together.  In my personal life, I use self-treatment techniques and commit to movement that eases restrictions.  In my community, I lead group exercise classes focused on functional movement.  You might say I match my actions to my words.  I am curious and love learning and growing in my knowledge of how the body works and works through dysfunction.

My skillset has evolved to focus on all things fascia related.  I teach group exercise classes that target fascia (it’s my hobby job).  And I study Myofascial Release.  My graduation cap from PTA school read “Do What MOVES You.” Who wants to be locked up, hopeless, and in pain.

I can help.
